Crossroads History
How we began:
What we are doing:
We don’t believe that God called us to sit still. We aren’t interested in playing church we are interested in being the Church. We are active in our pursuit to share what Christ has done in our lives and what He can do in the lives of others. This intention is made plain through a snapshot of the ministries we are engaged in:
• WISH – Women in Service of Him meets monthly and fills gift bags for abused and battered women and the women’s shelter in Spokane.
• Good News Club – Located directly across the street from Crossroads is Sunset Elementary School. That is not an accident and we realized that God positioned us in our community precisely where we are (Acts 17:26) for divine purpose. Every Tuesday after school children come to Crossroads to hear Bible stories and do arts/crafts as the gospel is presented.
• SIX/12 Youth ministry, exciting and engaging youth group meeting weekly on Thursday nights
• Women’s and Men’s groups meeting regularly
• Marriage Enrichment events – Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage, Valentines Day Dinner, etc.
• Community outreach:
o Thanksgiving Turkeys - given out to neighbors in need
o Back to School Blessings - providing school supplies to children without
o Christmas Tree of Sharing – Christmas gifts to families in need
o SIX/12 popsicle outreach – free popsicles to neighborhood children.
o Summer children's community musical bible camp.
Where we are going:
We are committed to take Christ at His word when He calls us “salt and light”. Our intention is not to sit around and talk about helping others, it is to engage in active works of service. Our plan is to connect with our community in ways that allow us to invest in the lives of others. The Lord has blessed our faithfulness in many ways. In two and half years we have grown from a few committed families to an average Sunday attendance of over 100. This has presented significant space problems for us since there are only 108 seats in the sanctuary. To resolve the lack space we installed a large portable structure for Sunday School classroom space and are planning for two services. We praise the Lord for His blessings and freely acknowledge that apart from Him we not only can do nothing, but certainly would fail miserably.
Crossroads exists to perform four vital tasks:
Outreach: We will reach our community showing the love of God by serving and helping our neighbors. We will bring the offer of God's salvation available to all by grace through faith and the risen Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
Instruction: We will teach and preach God's word in a relevant and dynamic manner as we focus in on practical application of its timeless principles.
Disciple: We will equip believers to become ambassadors of Jesus and utilize their gifts by living for Him and serving Him daily.
Worship: We will form bonds of friendship and fellowship as the body of Christ as we worship and glorify the Lord in all we do.
Crossroads Christian Fellowship:
Services start at 10am every Sunday Morning.
